Living on the Land
The Carson River is the lifeblood of Douglas County. It is a resource shared by all the residents of the Carson Valley and provides irrigation water for the abundant green fields that surround us. In order to help protect the quality of water in the Carson River and assist landowners in managing their properties, the Douglas County Cooperative Extension has developed an educational program called “Living on the Land.” The program provides workshops, educational materials, and individual consultations to landowners in order to help them implement management practices that are efficient, cost effective, and environmentally sound. The program was developed with funding from the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection in cooperation with the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Carson Valley Conservation District, and theWestern Nevada Resource Conservation and Development Department.
